Boston Birds

This is the home site for the Boston Birds listserv.  The listserv was started to enhance the experience of birders birding in Boston. In particular it was inspired by a group of birders participating in the Greater Boston Christmas Bird Count. Rules and Instructions

Boston Birds Charter
Boston Birds is a mailing list dedicated to the idea that good birds and birding do not require travel.  This list hopes to serve as an interchange of information around birding Boston.  Boston is loosely defined as Suffolk County + Brookline + Newton. This list is intended for the discussion of local issues - such as birding locations, local conditions, reports of local rarities and unusual sightings, and calls for volunteers in research and census activities. Hopefully, novice birdwatchers, visitors to our area, and our local experts alike, will share their questions and knowledge through this mailing list.

Boston Birds Rules:
Sign all messages with your full name and the city you live in
Please respect each other's time by limiting your posts on Boston Birds to topics within the charter. If you have a question as to relevance, contact the moderator.
Post in plain text only - no HTML, highlighting, text formatting or attachments.
Posts should never be critical or openly doubt someone's sighting!
If you question a bird identification be polite, not disparaging, and reply to the individual not the list.  ALWAYS defer to the poster of the message to determine when it is appropriate to "retract" a sighting!
Be specific about locations: your friends may know Bussey Hill is at the Arnold Arboretum, but many people don't.
If someone else's post is offensive, complain to the Moderator, not the list.
